Temple of the Body & Soul is now offering on site assessment for orthotics by our physiotherapist Odile.
Your feet and body structure
Our feet were intended for use on a variety of surfaces such as sand and soil – not hard concrete pavements and ground coverings.
Because hard surfaces offer no support to the arches of the feet, our feet tend to roll inwards causing the arches to flatten – a condition known as ‘excessive pronation’. As our feet, ankles, legs and neck try to compensate for excessive pronation, our bones and muscles are thrown out of alignment. As a result of this malalignment, chronic aches and pains may be experienced throughout the body – including aching feet, knees, hips, back and even headaches!
Other symptoms that may be attributed to excessive pronation or deformity of foot structures include:
- Tired, aching legs
- Heel spurs
- Weak ankles
- Bunions
- Knee pain
- Lower back pain
- Neck pain
- Poor posture
